THE HOLLY HUMBERSTONE
This feels like the truman show 2024 tour
CAROL ADES
On Thursday night at the St. Andrews Hall starting off the night in Detroit, Michigan opener Carol Ades has transformed the venue that felt like a heartfelt conversation. Ades started off the night with her song “I Can’t Wait to be British,” and she did not disappoint her devoted fans. As music filled the room she continued her setlist with Crying during Sex, Hope, and Special. Ades’s voice sounds so powerful, magical, and fragile and it carries emotions beautifully. As Ades introduced herself to the crowd someone said right after “Who are you,” Ades took it as “I love you” She jokingly said, “I will pretend you said I love you.” Ades introduced her guitarist on stage Celia and asked how old she was. Celia joked about being 103 years old. Ades then asked if anyone was 26 years old and she said “A lot of people tell me 26 is their best year and I’m here like shut up” as she was laughing. The reason why she asked this is because she wrote a song called 26. As the night came to a close for Ades everyone had an emotional journey that left an unforgettable night.
HOLLY HUMBERSTONE
It was 9 PM EST and as the lights dimmed the energetic crowd welcomed Humberstone as she walked on stage and grabbed her guitar. From the floor to the balcony the crowd has drawn to her energy and sweet sound. Humberstone kicked off her set with the song called Paint My Bedroom Black. She continued the songs with Into Your Room and with one of my favorites The Walls Are Way Too Thin. If you don’t know who Holly Humberstone is she is an English singer-songwriter from Grantham, England with a background music genre of Alternative and Indie.
From my view being on the balcony at St. Andrews Hall Humberstone engaged with her fans throughout the night which is for me one of the highlights of artists. She even said thank you after she was done with each of her songs. The crowd was singing along tremendously, dancing, and head-bopping. There were smiles everywhere when Humberstone was performing and one of the fans up at the barricade brought a I <3 You Holly which I thought was very cute.
Humberstone played 18 tracks along with an encore of Friendly Fire and Scarlett.
Thank you Holly and to the band for bringing your enchanting music to Detroit, MI, and hope to see you back here soon.
